Emily Hannah Smukler

Emily Hannah Smukler was born on Wednesday March 24th at 8:08 AM. She weighed in at 6 pounds, 3 ounces and was 19" long. The morning started off normal for Jess, as she woke up for her daily 5AM bathroom break. At abouty 5:15am, her water broke. We weren't sure so we called the hospital and they said to come on in. I was in a panic, racing through the house like a mad man while Jessica took her time. She felt fine and was in no rush. I had the car started, heated up and in the driveway before Jess managed to put on her socks. We got to the hospital and they immediately started to prep Jess for a c-section (our little one turned and stubbornly wouldn't turn back, so she was in a breech position). I went to the bathroom and came back to an empty room. Of course, I paniced and started to scream "I'm going to miss the birth of my 1st child". The staff thought I was nuts. They made me wait outside the surgery room for 20 minutes. It was tough, I just wanted to be with Jess. I went into the room and within 10 minutes, the DR announces "Its a girl". (I was thinking, oh boy, I'm in big trouble). The second I saw her I was in love, she was daddy's little girl. Jess went into recovery and they took emmy for tests, etc, etc. Jess was in recovery from 9AM until 12 (we sat texting, calling and writing on facebook to share the news)....We got to the room and waited another hour before we can finally spend time with her. After a few days in the hospital, we were able to take her home for her first passover seder.
